Terrible!!!!

Terrible's Lakeside that is! We had another fun filled weekend there. Who knew you could actually be surrounded by lush greenery and water in Pahrump!!! We were joined once again by the Hagan clan and this time Johnny and Junie were free to come out and play too. On Saturday Chuck and Gavin came over the hump and on Sunday Mike, Dee and the boys visited for the day. Both days were jam packed with so much activity the little ones, Bryn, Seth and Gavin, didn't stop long enough to take a nap. There was swimming, fishing, paddle boating, canoeing, bike riding, feeding the ducks and just hanging out. Food was way too plentiful and delicous, I'm sure we all gained 10 lbs! Good for some, so not necessary for others. lol :)Oh and a special thanks to Jen for introducing me to Magic Shell, YUMMY!!!! Anyways it always a great time when we get to be together as a family. We're so grateful to be blessed with good times and to be able to offer our girls great memories of growing up.
Now off to get ready for some more fun and memories to be had...Pismo in 16 more days!!!!! Sand, sun and fun here we come! Oh and did I mention nothing close to 100+ degrees!!!

Let's celebrate!

We had another wonderful Independance Day celebration. Once again bbq in the backyard with family and friends. Rob, Kristie and the boys were able to stop and stay the night with us on their way back to CA from their road trip. We had the regulars Grammy, Grampy and Nana, this time Leslie came too. Uncle Chris and Becky. Cato was able to join us after having been in the hospital for a few weeks (we're so happy he's free :)) so of course Robin, Shanna, Sheena, Joel, Stevie and Erin. Poor Matt had to work. Also this year the Pope family Mike, Dee, Zach and Alex our new neighbors, and their extended family were with us to celebrate. The kids swam all day and only came out when we forced them out to eat. Man to have their energy! We had great fun, lots of food and good conversation as usual. Us ladies even got a lesson in some real country line dancing by Grandma Pope, the lady sure can get down! :) Even though we're not allowed to set off fireworks we still got a beautiful show between the Pahrump Nugget and some people a few streets over. We all dragged our chairs over to the hill in the backyard and watched until all that was left in the sky were the beautiful stars to look at.

June in a minute

So I've been a total and complete slacker with my blog, again. I promise to be better (fingers crossed). Brook's out of school so I'm trying to come up with different things to keep her entertained while Bryn naps and I get some work done. I don't think there are enough crayons or glue in the world to keep her busy all summer!
We've taken the summer off from gymnastics and ballet although we did sign her up for soccer starting in August so that should be interesting. We're hoping she, Ashley and Kendall will get to be on the same team. That should make for an interesting season, lol. I can totaly see her telling her coach that she doesn't feel like running and walk off the field, my little diva. Mostly we've just been hanging out with friends, playdates at BK, swimming, library and just enjoying our time together. We did have a fun filled Father's day weekend with the Hagan's and Johnson's at Terrible's Lakeside and then spent Sunday afternoon with Grampy, Grammy and the rest of the family. This was uncle Kermit's first Father's day, his son is due in October/November. Yay another cousin for the girls!
Brook has mastered her bike without training wheels and is starting to swim without her life jacket(in very small increments of time that is). Bryn is just too much for words. The child can do anything, jumps in the pool with just an inner tube, picks out her clothes, drives Brook's jeep around, helps me empty the dishwasher and just recently went potty in the potty but she will not talk. She can say quite a few words but only when SHE wants to otherwise nothing! She's stubborn just like her daddy! :)Though neither one of us are looking forward to the teenage years they are both wonderful blessings and make us smile a million times a day!
So that's our June in a nutshell, hope to be back for July! :)

Graduation day!

Brook is offically onto big girl school! She graduated preschool last night and will be starting kindergarten in August, what??? kindergarten???...my goodness and then Bryn will start preschool in September of 2010. If it wasn't for the sleepless nights and poopy diapers I might be tempted to pull a Duggar and keep having babies, just cause the time goes by way too fast! Ah but I digress...
The ceremony was so sweet, Mrs. Carrington announced them as the "graduating class of 2009" they sang songs and recited their memory verses and then at the end she called their names as they walked down to recieve their "diploma". The preschool children and all the staff have been fantastic these past two years and we're so grateful Brook was able to be a part of it. She'll still be at the same school next year but in a different building and won't be able to see the pre-k teachers as often. but I know she'll do well with her new teacher and fellow students, some of whom she'll already know so that will be a big plus for her.
Here's to hoping we have a great summer and then we'll be looking to new fun and adventures for our kindergartner!

Making the rounds

So we had quite a busy weekend. We went from cosmic bowling in Las Vegas to "Oldschool Norco Kegger" at Andy's to visiting Grandpa Craig, Grandma Lila, and Great Grandma Mazlo in Perris and back home to Pahrump! Phew, we fit a lot of activities into just a few days but boy did we all have a great time.
Cosmic bowling at Red Rock was so much fun. We went with the Dugans, Robinettes and Garrisons. The kids were dancing around to the music in between bowling and snacking. Brook even got a little back spin in on the slick floor and Gavin and Bryn had their own little groove going and Aubrie and Brian were right there with them. We called it a night early as we had to pick Jon up from work and head out to CA, not to mention Brook and I ended up with same score and I just couldn't handle the pressure anymore, lol!
Unfortuantely we had a slight bump in the road, I ran out of gas as I was exiting the ramp to pick Jon up and he had to be my knight in shining armor and come to rescue us, my hero! So we finally made it to Andy's and had a great time seeing old faces and meeting new ones. It was funny to look through an old yearbook and see Jon and his friends as a teenagers, so cute. The girls had a blast with Alyssa and Sierra, I don't think I saw them but for a few moments at a time. Sunday we hung out at Brent and Lee's house, and it is the house to be at...complete with a bar/game room, fishing pond, jet ski, paddle boat and various livestock. A kids dream for sure!
Later we went to Grandpa and Grandma Lila's to visit with Justin, Gervais, and baby Madeline. Then we ventured across the way to visit with Great Grandma Mazlo, Jon's aunt Carol her daughter Tracey and granddaughter Kylie.
We finally headed home later that night and made to our owns beds by midnight! A very long weekend but so worth it. What a wonderful group a family and friends we have!

Our prima ballerina!

After months of practice Brook and her class had their ballet recital on May 1st and 2nd. Their performance was to the music from Tinkerbell, which of course meant we had to have the movie so she could practice at home(at least that was her reasoning). They were just the cutest little ballerinas ever and all did a great job! There were other really fantastic performances from clogging to Indian dancing to Kung fu type dance. She had quite the cheering section because not only did Daddy get to make it to her performance but he had Andy with him too plus Grampy, Grammy and Robin were also there and to top it off Chuck, Emilie and Gavin made it.
It was very exciting and a little emotional to watch Brookie on stage but we're so proud and looking forward to next year!

Easter/Dumont 09

We had another great Easter weekend out in Dumont. We arrived very late friday night/saturday morning but because we were so late we missed all the yucky wind and rain, yay. Saturday and Sunday were both very hot and we ventured out to the creek to cool off. Of course both times forgetting my camera :( Oh well we had lots of fun. Brook's becoming our little pro rider, standing up as she's riding and going way too fast IMO, she's also a wonderful big sister riding Brynnie around and following Gavin on his quad to make sure he's doing good. Easter morning the girls woke up to Easter baskets and between us, Chuck and Em, Rick and Lisa and the vendor egg hunt, way too much candy! Em and I hid the eggs the kids had made at Steph's, plus lots of candy filled eggs and then set the kids free. It was so cute watching Bryn and Gavin figure out that there's good stuff in their eggs. Brook and Kyra are seasoned veterans and knew exactly what was in those eggs and made every effort to find as many as possible, in fact Devon and Colton even got in on the hunt when we went to vendor row for their 1st annual egg hunt. Brook found two dollars and Kyra found five dollars, they were so excited. Can't wait till next year!

Five years old!!!!

My goodness time sure goes by fast when you're having fun. And it's surely been a fun five years with our princess. We started off Brook's birthday with strawberry whip cream pancakes which she had two servings of! Getting older must be hard work. After that we lit her candles on her birthday cake and we were off to start the day. We didn't get to do much to celebrate today because we're leaving for Dumont but we sure did some celebrating last Saturday with her birthday party and last night it was her choice for dinner anywhere she wanted, she picked Sonic for their corndogs and cherry slushie, I'm sure it won't always be that easy.
Her birthday party went extremely well if I do say so myself. We had 50+ kids and over 120 people total! What can I say we love to entertain. :) We had both jumpers up, a pony, goat and rabbit, the best pinata ever (thanks sis) and because of the hard work and dedication of Jon, Grandpa Craig, Grandpa Herman, Cato, Matt, Barry, Chuck and Dane we also had Brook's new swing set up and ready for play. Barry joked that with all the different trades working on it, the job would have cost us at least $6000, ahh it's good to have the right connections! Not to mention all the "womens" work that was going on inside the house, between myself, Grandma Letty, Grandma Lila, Robin, Shanna and Dawn food and drinks were all ready on time. Yay for family and friends!!!! We have been so blessed to have so many people come from near and far to celebrate this special time with us.
We love you Brookie and we're so proud of the big girl you are becoming!!!!

Happy April!

This is Brookie's 5th birthday month! She is a true diamond girl and every bit an Aries. I can't believe my baby will be five years old this month, time goes much too quickly. When she was first born I could not wait until she got bigger so that we could play, talk and hang out. Now that that time is here I just want her to be a baby again so I can just hold her and stare at her all day (plus then she couldn't talk back, lol). What a big girl she has become.:)
Ok, moving on before the tears start. We have her birthday party coming up this saturday and we're praying for the wind to stop and the sun to shine, hopefully the princess will get her wish.:)Every year we battle the weather but even when we have had a few sprinkles her parties have turned out well. So I'm hoping this party will be no different. This year instead of renting a jumper Jon decided we should buy one, I tried convincing him this would be her last big party and Bryn only has a few more till she turns five but he wasn't having any of it. According to him we'll be having birthday parties at least until the girls are eighteen. Lord help me!!! lol Anyways here's a picture of the jumper and the girls playing in it. We received it a few weeks ago and practically everyday since then they have wanted to play in it...well at least we'll get our money's worth!

Goin' to the chapel....

On Sunday March 29, 2009 the girls welcomed a another auntie to the family! Kermit and Leah got hitched :) Their wedding was scheduled for Oct 26th but instead they will be welcoming their first child around that time. Our family is growing and we couldn't be more excited! When I first told Brook she would be a getting a new auntie she became very sad and told me "but I already have auntie Nicky!" So cute... Anyways once I explained to her she would still have auntie Nicky and now would have auntie Leah as well she was just fine and ran off to her room to find the "perfect" dress to wear for the wedding.
They were married at The Little White Wedding Chapel on the Strip and there were quite a few friends and family there. The reception was at their house and they had heated the pool so that was the first place the kids headed. Even Bryn went straight for it and soaked herself before I had a chance to get her swimsuit on. It was great to meet our new family members and Brook was so excited because she got some new cousins her age Alexis, who will be five 4 days before Brook turns 5 and Annicka who will be 3 in September. It was a wonderful day filled love and laughter.

Let's dance!

Brook had a half day dance/cheer camp this past saturday. It was put on by one of the local churches as a fund raiser. Check in was at 8:30 so it was a struggle to get my little divas out of bed, fed and out the door but we made it there by 8:31. Yay me! There were girls from ages 4 through junior high and omgosh they were all so cute. Brook, Ashley, Ashley's cousins plus a few more girls from ballet class were all there. The girls were checked in, given their water bottles and tshirts and after a quick warm up were sent to their age groups to learn their routines that they would be performing for the parents later that day. Amazing what kids can pick up in just a few hours. They all put on a great dance show and even threw in some PVHS Trojans cheers. I'm so proud of my little star. I'm glad she had this opportunity since in just a few weeks she'll be performing in front of a much larger audience with her ballet class. I'm so excited I can't wait!!!
Oh and also wanted to share that Bryn had her own little performance going as well dancing and clapping along to the music. :)

Balls of fury!

So us mommies from church have started "moms time" which include bible studies, play dates and family get togethers. Saturday was our first family night. It was game night and potluck and the UFC fight was on. We had a great showing and everyone had a fun time, especially the guys. As it turns out they had no interest in the fight once they found out Dan and Jen had their new ping pong table set up. I think we only saw the men when they came in for food! CJ schooled them all so now Jon and Dan want a rematch! Jon kept joking he needed to rent the movie Balls of fury so he could get some tips for next time. :) The kids of course had a great time together chasing each other around, playing dress up and playing the Wii, Ashley's poor room looked like it had been visited by a demolition team. We did manage to clean it up enough to see the floor though. :) Us ladies also had a good time chit chatting and enjoying all the yummy food and desserts. For next month it's mommies only and we're doing pj and movies night! It's at Alys' house and I hear she is an excellent cook so I'm so excited!

For Steph!

Okay so Stephanie just pointed out the fact that it was I who prompted her to do her blog and now it is I who is slacking on my own blog.
Let's see my last post brought us up to January so hmm...nothing much exciting happening lately so I haven't had much to post. Don't get me wrong, my life is filled daily with as much fun, excitement and drama as any mother with a four year old and toddler could have but if I were to put that on this blog you may never come back for fear of death by boredom! I could post my hundreds of pictures and videos taken but I fear that only a mother could love the 50 attempts at trying to catch a picture of Bryn smiling only to have her grab the camera and instead get a picture of her eyeball. Or Brook performing her renditon of Hannah Montana's "Best of Both Worlds" for the 20th time since dinner. I guess truth be told I know all of you out there love reading about the Mazlo family as much as I love writing about us! :)
So here I go... Superbowl #??? (don't know, don't care) was lots of fun. Grandpa and Grandma Arias, Uncle Joe and cousin Michael came up for the weekend so Jon and I were able to make a quick escape to Dane and Steph's on saturday night for some grownup time. We had lots of fun and Steph introduced us ladies to a new yummy drink, mmm. On Sunday my brother Joe, my parents, Grammy and Grampy, Robbyn and the kids all helped us yell at the TV in hopes that the Cardinals would be able to hear us and pull off a miracle, sadly they weren't able to and I believe I even saw a tear in my brother's eye at the end of the game. :)
Valentine's Day celebrations and President's weekend were great too. Brook's highlight of the month was having not one but two Vday parties at school. She got lots of cards, candies and goodies and was generous enough to share them with all of us. We also had two visits from Gavin that week. Bryn is just so happy to see him and they have so much fun together. They remind me of Brian and Brook at their age, too cute! President's weekend the weather was nice. We really thought we'd have nasty rain but it didn't even sprinkle till we had packed up and were ready to drive off monday afternoon. In fact saturday was actually hot enough for shorts and tshirts, which is quite funny because the weekend before we took the girls up our mountain to play in the snow. Bryn is now very aware of all the fun she can have on the rhino and Brook's quad and wants nothing to do with staying in the toyhauler. First thing each morning she would bring us her shoes so she could go outside. She even got to hang out with everyone by the campfire this trip, she's so cute and getting to be such a big girl. Brook had Devon, Colton, Heidi and Jonathon to run around with. She and Colton even fell asleep watching Madagascar 2. The kids made friends with the neighbors and somehow ended up scoring bags of Vday candy. I'm pretty sure Brook can hear a candy wrapper being opened a mile away. :)
Our next trip is not until Easter but we've got lots more going on before then so I'll be back!

Late as usual....

So I know it's already the middle of January but I wanted to catch everyone up on our holidays. Christmas was wondeful and the girls were once again spoiled by grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends and of course us! This year my family couldn't make it over for our Christmas Eve dinner celebration so we had two family dinners, one on Christmas Eve and the other Christmas day. Although both meals included yummy deep fried turkey I really missed the usual Christmas Day tamales and menudo meal we do. Usually my mom spends the week before Christmas with us and we make tamales, menudo and biscochos but this year she couldn't make it and so I had to suffer silently on Christmas Day :P
New Year's was lots of fun too. We spent it in Dumont with friends. We even let the kids have a celebration toast (grape juice of course) and light up sparklers before they headed off to bed. Brian and Aubrie were there with their new quads and had lots of fun riding around camp with Brook. The kids even had their first "trail" ride. Dane led the kids out of camp for a short ride that included riding up a dune and "chillin" like the adults do. Deano followed them in his rhino which made me feel a little better. She's growing up too fast!!!!
The holidays are over and now it's back to the normal-ness of everyday. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Happy 2009!
Oh and one more thing...I got a new camera from Santa!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December, oh where to start?

Well I was planning on posting after Christmas but with the beautiful snow we had yesterday I just had to share. December started with our annual trip to see Santa. Brook did well and asked Santa for a Barbie but he made me leave so I didn't get to hear which Barbie. Bryn of course wanted no part of the jolly ole' St. Nick, oh well hopefully next year won't be so traumatic. And speaking of which why do we parents (I know I'm not the only one) feel the need to torture our little ones just so they can have a moment with Santa knowing full well he isn't the one dragging his butt off to the mall and everywhere else to get said child the perfect gift for Christmas?? I'm hoping this won't require therapy :P At least the girls were able to hang out with their cousin Alexis and their friends Aubrie, Brian, Andrew, Evan and Gavin. Later that weekend Jon, myself and the girls went on a 2 hour Christmas tree hunt, to the woods you ask? No to Star Nursery, then Walmart and finally we found our perfect little tree at Home Depot (yes we have a Home Depot in Pahrump). Brook and Bryn helped me decorate the tree and inside of the house while Daddy handled the lights on the outside. Yay! I love to see the house and tree lights at night, it just seems to make everything so beautiful. The following weekend we had Dane and Steph's first annual adults only Christmas party, we had lots of fun and some well deserved grownup time! Now onto the exciting parts...monday it snowed all morning but didn't stick :( It ended up being a big muddy mess and then wednesday after I took Brook to preschool it started snowing and didn't stop until after 4 this morning! Poor Jon had to use chains on wednesday afternoon to get home and again this morning to get to work. Also wednesday night Brook had her Christmas concert, my gosh these little preschoolers are so cute! They sang songs, recited Bible verses and even said the pledge to the American and Christian flags, adorable!!!! Grampy and Grammy were also there to share in Brook's big night. This morning we played in the snow and even attempted a snow man but Brook said her hands were getting too cold and Bryn kept trying to escape to Cato and Robbyn's house so after I got some pictures and video we headed inside to change and warm up. Sadly, once the sun started to show through the snow melted and now it sounds like it's raining outside from all the dripping water. Ah well, it was definitely fun while it lasted!!!!

Thanksgiving 2008

Once again we spent our Thanksgiving holiday in Glamis surrounded by family, friends and sand as the far as the eye can see. I really love the time we spend here, our longest to date 10 days, and I know the kids enjoy the freedom to run themselves ragged :) This year it was so much fun to watch the "babies" Gavin and Bryn run, play and interact with everyone. In fact all the kids were so busy playing with each other that we didn't take the jumper out once! Brook rode her quad very well and even followed Kyra out of the camp a few times. Sadly her bike gave out on her and despite all of Daddy's attempts to fix it she was without her "ride" the last few days. :( Hmm...Santa may have to make a quick stop at Honda. We did the usual, hang out, go for rides, eat :P, this year we even went on a tour of the "untouched" sand. Turkey dinner was excellent as always. We had so much food we ended up with a whole leftover turkey, even with a couple of extra guests we had invited after the guys "rescued" them earlier that day because their truck and trailer were stuck. As usual it was a great trip and although I hate the piles of laundry that have to be done when we get home I am looking forward to our next big trip in August to Pismo Beach. 12 days of relaxing on the beach yay!!!!! Well maybe I should just focus on our next event...Christmas!!! I hope you all had an equally wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Almost forgot...

Oops, I almost forgot to share Bryn's 1 year pictures. I know I'm a little late but we don't have Kiddie Kandids in town so I had to make a trip down to Vegas for these. Oh and they were actually taken on the 18th of October so only a month late :P Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

So another year has gone by, I think when Jon and I celebrate either one of our birthdays we are even more determined to see age as only a number. :P Besides, the girls our much too young for us to feel old! Well Jon doesn't like a bunch hoopla for his birthday but we were still able to manage a small gathering without too much fuss. Brook worked hard on her Daddy's birthday card, you could tell she put lots of thought into and even included some stickers of his favorite things and Daddy was very happy with it. In fact Brook was the most excited for his birthday and even went around collecting various toys to wrap up and give him and of course had to decorate the cake herself, too cute. Bryn is still too young to join in but did clap for Daddy when he was opening his presents. :) All in all it was a nice evening, Jon got to go shooting with Matt and Justin before dinner, had his favorite meal chicken broccoli fettucine and chocolate cake and spent the evening with family and friends.

Happy Halloween!

So we had a very busy October with our 5 year wedding anniversary, Jon's graduation dinner, Halloween/Dumont and just everyday happenings. Both the anniversary/graduation weekends were well deserved Daddy and Mommy time away. We stayed at hotels both times and the girls were with Cato and Robbyn one weekend and my mom and sister the other weekend. We had a great time just the two of us and decided we need to "get away" more often! Also in the busy-ness Jon managed to transfer tons of dirt from our neighbors yard (they were having a garage built had a huge pile of dirt they needed to get rid of) to our yard. We had a John Deere loader for two sundays so Jon was not only able to transfer the dirt but was able to get our yard level/ready for concrete around his shop and grass around the house when it comes time to put it down and of course there was enough dirt left over to build a few hills/jumps for the girls. Though they were long days Jon enjoyed himself and could hardly keep the girls off the loader. Of course the big weekend was Halloween/Dumont. I love that even though we are in the sand dunes for this holiday the girls don't miss out on all the fun, the girls still get to dress up and trick or treat. This year instead of just t-o-t from trailer to trailer in our camp we took the kids from camp to camp and I was very impressed with the level of decorating out there. There were some camps that rivaled the most decorated houses I've seen. It was surreal to see these rhinos loaded with costume clad children driving around the sand dunes trick or treating. It was great fun and I think Emilie and I will attempt some sort of big decorating next year, I can't wait!

BTW I also threw in some pictures of Daddy saving the day with his pumpkin carving skills!
