Santa!!!

Santa, we promise to leave you cookies and milk but don't be late, our Daddy likes cookies too!
Ah Christmas time. I know most people love the lights or holiday music and of course the presents but for me Christmastime means homemade tamales and menudo! I love my mom, she definitely spoils us. This season was Brook's first ever school function, her class did a Christmas program, they sang songs and quoted Bible scriptures, it was too cute! We even got a "hi mom" from stage and of course I cried...can I still blame that on the pregnancy hormones??? We did our annual Christmas Eve dinner with Grampy and Grammy, Uncle Chris and Becky, Uncle Kermit and his new girlfriend Leah. Of course Grandpa Herman and Grandma Letty were here with Uncle Emrah and this year we got to include our neighbors Cato and Robin with their daughters Shawna and Sheena and our new neighbor Joe, I love small town living! We had a wonderful Christmas Day as well. Merry Christmas to you all!

Brookie's first Christmas Concert, mommy even cried!

Look at me I'm sitting all by myself, sort of.

You mean I have to share my toys now????

Glamis Thanksgiving

There's nothing like Thanksgiving in Glamis. When I first met Jon and he told me he went to Glamis for Thanksgiving every year I was in shock. What no family time, no turkey, no PIE??? But rest assured there is no better turkey dinner than in Glamis. Each year we share our turkey time with family, friends and great food. We have deep fried turkeys, ham, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls and of course pies....okay so now I'm hungry! Anyways it's a great spin on a family tradition and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Thanks Chuck, Emilie and Gavin for my super cool onesie!

Trick or treat!

I'll hold your candy for you little sister!
I think we may have had the first look at sibling rivalry. Brook was all set to be a princess for Halloween but moments after we put Bryn into her pumpkin "costume" Brook decided she wanted to be a pumpkin also and so we put on her costume from when she was 2. My goodness this could get interesting...
Well we did have a nice Halloween, Grampy and Grammy came over for my special chili and then we headed out. It was not too terribly cold but I didn't want to keep Bryn out for long so we made it short and sweet. This year Brook was a pro at saying "trick or treat" and "thank you" and ended up with a respectable amount of candy, which of course she wanted to gobble down immediately. She was satisifed with two pieces and the promise that it will still be there in the morning. Oh what candy can do to a child!

Initiation time!

Bryn's first dune trip! Handled it like a champ, she's definitely a Mazlo! I'm sure many think we're crazy taking a newborn camping but this will actually be the easiest trip to the dunes for us and baby and because camping is what we do, it's best to just dive in! In fact both pregnancies and births were scheduled around our dune trips to be sure Mommy wasn't too close to delivery and baby wouldn't be too small to camp, what can I say we really love our dune time!

Dirt bike rider!!!!

I'm gonna be just like my Daddy! Brook has decided she wants a dirt bike like Daddy's but pink of course. She think's she is too big for her quad and that Bryn can have it. Jon is thrilled with idea and is chomping at the bit to go out and buy her a PW50. I'm hoping we will wait a little longer as I would prefer she stay on her quad as long as possible. But she can be as determined as her Daddy so who knows maybe sometime in the near future she'll be featured in the SX exhibition race.

Welcome Bryn Maymie Mazlo!!!

Born September 17th, 2007 at 7:04pm
Valley Hospital Las Vegas, NV
6 lbs 13 oz 18 1/2 long
Well folks we have a new princess to add to the family, we are truly blessed. I think Daddy's already scoping out new shot guns to add to his collection! I have to confess that poor Bryn was nameless well into the early hours of the 18th. We went to the hospital with a boy's name but still not agreeing on a girl's name, finally we agreed on Bryn Maymie, Bryn means hilltop and Maymie means pearl and was chosen for Jon's maternal grandmother. Bryn was breech and though Dr. Gorski tried and was successful several times at turning her she turned back each time (insight I'm sure to her personality) and so it was off to the O.R. for a csection. I do have to say if I have my choice next time we will not be going that route! Definitely not a fun recovery trying to take care of a newborn those first few days, even with the help of Jon and my mom. But she's here, she's healthy, eats like a champ and already sleeps 3 hours at a time...God is merciful! :) Brook is doing beautifully with her and is just so sweet and gentle. Grandpa Craig and Grandma Lila got to be here for the birth and kept Brook while we were in the hospital. It's so amazing to have this little person who was in my tummy and now we can hold her and kiss her and love all over her. Thank you God for this blessing!

What a wonderful big sister Brookie is. She has been so excited to meet her little Brynnie!

I know they will become great friends!

I love my baby sister!

Any reason for cake! We had a Welcome Bryn/Brook's a big sister party to celebrate our new arrival and include our big girl in the festivities. Grandma Letty made green and red enchiladas and Grandpa Herman's famous rice...mmm yummy!

Brookie's big day!!!

This was Brook's first day of preschool. This is her teacher, Mrs. Shaw. Brookie loves Mrs. Shaw! I can't believe my baby is going to school...my goodness where did the time go? She did so well, in fact when it was time for the parents to leave she didn't even say "bye". Jon and I had to chase her down to get hugs and kisses before we left. I cried as we drove away, but I'm blaming it on the pregnancy hormones :)

Daddy, I need my own horse! Look how cute I am in a cowboy hat!

...Or I can be a ballerina!

Newbie here!

I realize I am late entering the age of technology but better late than never, right? I thought this would be a great idea for friends and family to keep up with the Mazlos but mostly for me to share and brag all about Brook and the new baby. I will try to keep current but as anyone with little ones knows somedays just getting a shower is an accomplishment..Yay Mommy! I hope everyone enjoys reading and seeing the kids as they grow and I welcome all comments, tips and advice!

A little bit about the Mazlos...
Jon is a heavy equipment operator for Local 12 out of Las Vegas and Amanda works from home for a medical billing company. We met in Oct 1999, thanks to Kristen, and were married Oct 2003, we welcomed our sweet Brook on April 10th, 2004 and will be adding to our family in September of 2007. We are waiting to find out the sex of the baby so currently the nursery is set up but undecorated which is killing me because I am such a planner and will go with either all pink or all blue, no neutrals for this baby...I'm not sure what I was thinking opting for the surprise...oh well soon enough, just a few more weeks. Poor Brook is patiently waiting for the baby, though I'm not sure if she realizes this will be a permanent situation...she is and has been the princess for so long, I hope it all goes well. She's just now getting used to the idea of sharing Grandma Letty with her cousin Alexis, who turned 1 in June.:) We also have two dogs. Buddy, a basset hound and Jasmine a dalmation, they both turned 10 this year. They are true to their breed with Buddy being the most stubborn of all hounds and Jasmine quite the attention hog, they are both very sweet and cuddly (they do have to be bathed for the cuddling part though :P) Well that's us, be sure to check in for updates and new pictures!
